The hall fill with the sound of claps.But Kabita could not heard a single word of the lecture given by the school Head.Her mind entered another world. World of her own thinking, world of her self analysis of her past working life.
She worked at small primary school under state government .The salary provided by the end of the month was very little. She know her mind is also materialistic. Like other women she also like latest designed " Saree",bag,phone, watch and other ornaments etc.But after the end of the month when she got salary from the department was too small for brought her wishing goods.lf she brought this goods then who would brought the medicine for her old mother, monthly school fee of her only one child who bear? Her husband also did a small work. His salary was also too small .but they arrange their important goods.She prepared monthly budget for every month. But she fail to buy anything for her.It was her poor and pity life . She always struggle with proverty.From her early childhood till today proverty always follow her .She struggle with it every moment but not overcome from it.
Though her poor economic life she never cheat her work.she always arrive at time and does her work very carefully. Her students like her because of her kindness and good teaching skill.she apply her best strategy to teach her students. In case of private sector job if one person give best performance in his work then he get promotion.The higher authority of private sector always respect an active and working person. But in case of public sector? In case of primary teacher's job? What happens? In the time of salary it is mandatory to give 70 to 100 rupees for the name of contidancey,otherwise bill is stayed and salary stopped.This is a harassment, one person does his work very well and when his time to receive the wage of his labour then he must has give rupees for it. Is it legal? But nobody has heart to fight against it.so,it become a tradition or custom .The official authority always depressed them.But they never sound a single word against the authority. Everyone has fear if the authority take any action against them. So,they keep silent.
Yes...yes...it is a story of poor primary teacher of Assam.Who always try to improve her economic condition, but at last she face with her failure.Alash what a unfortunate she is!
She did her work. Never spoke her grief with her collegue.she always carry her grief with her. But she store it in the deepest corner of her heart. Never open it in front of any one. Her patience and bearing capacity was infinite. But in the lonely moment she weep alone.
Time never stop for anyone. The current of river and the speed of the time same to same.They moves but never stop.Her life cross sixty years, but she could not cross the proverty.It was not her only fault it was fault of the department also who provides a very little salary for primary teachers. The. discrimination of salary create different classes among the teachers A poor primary teacher receive lower salary than highschool L.D. or chowkider.
When she receive her retriment letter send from the official authority of the department she weep,her colluge show sympathy to her.she know that it is mandatory for everyone that when their age cross the particular limit fixed by the government rule then they retried from their job. But her heart fill with sorrow.uncertain future of her life, every day anxiety and unbearable proverty are the main causes of her sadness. After retriment what is done for money ?she will receive only few money after her retriment.But she has no solution.
The particular day of her retriment come. Other teachers of the school arrange farewell meeting. They give many lectures about her polite behaviour, her kindness, her working style. When the time of her own speach she compeletly out of patience she weep but at the very moment she get her spirit, she stand up and address the present individuals , she address her students and request them that they should try to remove proverty from the society, because according to her own experience with poverty one individual couldn't do his work peacefully. She know the present condition of her students, they also have suffered from proverty. Because her school situated in a "bagan area", (tea Estate).the parents are working under a bagan and tea factory belong toTata company. Unfortunately Tata company construct a maga factory near the school building, which creates dirty dust,Corban monoxide, hot air noise pollution, smoke,s0mell unhygienic situation for live but the school teachers and students bear it because the official authority has no reaction and action. In that particular school all are ladies teachers, if a pagnentt lady work under that particular environment her coming child obviously come with disability. So, she request to the school head that she in from it to the central authority to concern this matter.
Like her futur,the future of the school is also uncertain .If the school will closed by the authority it also closed the educational life of 411students read in the school.......
